Smoke Alarm Assistance Program

Working Smoke Alarms Help Protect Your Household

Liberty Fire District partners with the American Red Cross to help residents obtain working smoke alarms and learn about home fire safety.

Smoke alarms and installation are provided at no charge, subject to equipment and volunteer availability.

Who Can Request Assistance?

Residents within Liberty Fire District who need smoke alarms or help with installation are encouraged to contact us.

Homeowners and renters are welcome to request assistance, including residents of houses, mobile homes, and RVs. District staff will discuss your needs and determine suitable equipment and installation arrangements.

If you rent, please let us know so any necessary coordination with the property owner can be arranged.

How We Can Help

Depending on your needs and available resources, our volunteers can:

  • Review your existing smoke alarms.
  • Install suitable smoke alarms where needed.
  • Explain alarm testing and maintenance.
  • Discuss escape routes and an outdoor meeting place.
  • Answer questions about common household fire hazards.

Please tell us if someone in your household has difficulty hearing an alarm or needs assistance escaping. We can discuss appropriate options and available resources.

Request Assistance

Contact Liberty Fire District using any of these methods:

Online: Contact Us
Email: info@LibertyFireDistrictFL.gov
Phone: 850-892-5833

To help us coordinate your request, please provide:

  • Your name and property address.
  • A telephone number or email where we can reach you.
  • Whether you live in a house, mobile home, or RV.
  • A brief description of the assistance needed.
  • Any accessibility or scheduling considerations.

A District representative will contact you to discuss your needs and arrange a visit. Submitting a request does not confirm an appointment.

Make Escape Planning Part of Your Visit

Working alarms provide a warning, but everyone also needs to know how to get outside. Ask our volunteers about developing and practicing an escape plan suited to your household.

For a broader review of household fire hazards, you may also request a voluntary Home Fire Safety Visit.

Emergency Reminder

If an alarm sounds and you suspect a fire, get everyone outside, stay outside, and call 911 from a safe location.

Do not use the contact form, email, or station phone to report an emergency.
